About

MOTARASU gathers Japanese and Danish designers in one brand, thereby emphasising the common design styles and traditions. Both nations have long and proud design traditions and a lot in common when it comes to designing beautiful and functional furniture. At MOTARASU, we live by the philosophy that we should surround ourselves with beautiful, quality furniture and interior that is specially selected to bring joy in our homes.

MOTARASU was established by Mikkel Zebitz in 2018, after having fine-tuned an idea for a couple of years about bringing together designers from Japan and Denmark. Mikkel comes from a commercial background and has worked with building and developing business units within the fashion and lifestyle industry for several years prior to starting MOTARASU.

“There is a clear common thread in the design style of Japan and Denmark, both nations focusing on the beauty of raw materials, quality and a simplistic philosophy. I wanted to establish a platform for designers from both countries to be able to inspire and be inspired by each other.”

About our logo

For MOTARASU, the understanding and experience of space is essential, which can be clearly seen in our logo. The lines of the logo form a characteristic hexagon, symbolising the shape of a room or a house. MOTARASU is about the meeting between two cultures, which together create a new unity. The same way, the lines of the logo come together to create a new unity: the letter M.
