Lars Vejen & Taijiro Ishiko

A Danish architect and a Japanese designer - Lars Vejen and Taijiro Ishiko formed StudioA27, a creative partnership built around a shared fascination with materials, construction and the space between two design cultures. For their first collaboration for Motarasu they produced Float.

An innovative approach to the cantilever chair

Float moves as easily between a private home and a restaurant as it does between two cultures. Stackable by four, precise in its proportions, it carries the kind of quiet confidence that comes from two designers who understand what they are making and why.

For Lars Vejen, good design begins with the material - finding its characteristics and letting them lead. For Taijiro Ishiko, it begins with the same instinct, shaped by a Kyoto education and a belief that form should carry long-lasting value.
