Sekiun 23 Pendant
Designed by Ryota Yokozeki
Named for the Japanese word for a cumulus cloud, Sekiun began not from a drawing but from the hand - Ryota Yokozeki let the form arrive intuitively, the way a cloud takes shape. It is built from two oval shades of washi paper, one stacked above the other and set across it, so no two views are quite the same. Rolled and layered, the washi diffuses light softly - bringing the quality of sun through cloud into the room.
Made in Denmark from Japanese washi paper.
Choose options
Lit, the shade is never one flat surface. The inner volume casts a soft curve of shadow across the outer band, the doubled seams read a shade deeper than the single layer, and the paper carries a gradient rather than an even glow. The form changes as you move around it.
The Japanese washi is PVC-coated for durability. The sheets overlap and brace one another across each seam, joined with brass pins, so the form holds its own shape.
Broad and low, Sekiun 50 gives a room a volume to sit under without taking the height to do it. It hangs alone above a dining table or a kitchen island, and carries a living space on its own. Over longer tables it repeats in a row, aligned along the length so the low horizontal form reads as one line.
As a natural material, each pendant varies slightly in appearance. Colours shown on screen may differ from the actual product.

Sekiun is shipped in a package designed for secure transport and efficient storage while minimizing unnecessary material waste.
Easy to clean. Dust can be removed from both the inside and outside of the shade using a soft dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. Gently wipe using a soft cloth lightly wrung in lukewarm water.

Ryota's Sekiun pendant was born from a simple observation: that everyone, everywhere, has looked up at the sky and felt something. Cumulus clouds shift with the hour, the season, the light. No two moments are the same.
Made by rolling and layering two pieces of specially coated washi paper, Sekiun captures that same quality of change. Viewed from one angle it appears soft and full. From another, the layered shadows deepen. Like a cloud caught in sunlight, it warms the space around it - differently each time.
