Lars Vejen

A Danish architect and designer living part-time in Japan, Lars Vejen bridges Scandinavian clarity and Japanese discipline. His work reflects a deep respect for craft and natural materials, marrying two iconic design heritages.

Bridging Denmark and Japan in poetic simplicity

From Denmark to Japan - a lifelong fascination

Lars Vejen’s journey began as a young architecture student in Aarhus, Denmark, when his furniture caught the eye of a Japanese company. That encounter led him to Japan, sparking a lifelong relationship with a country whose design ethos resonated deeply with his own. “I think there was something in me, as a designer and person, that naturally matched something Japanese,” he recalls.

“Merging Japanese and Danish design can really embrace aesthetics in ways we can’t do alone. Together, we add layers of meaning - respecting materials, heritage and each other’s perspectives.”
