Enso Raw Pendant

Enso Raw carries the same idea in a rawer material. Its washi is thinner and more fibrous, closer to its natural state, softer in character, more beige in tone than the standard Enso, the grain of the paper visible in the glow, no two shades quite alike.
Being thinner, it settles more readily under gravity, its circle easing further into an oval over time. For that reason, Raw is made only at 120 cm, where the paper holds its form with grace. Held by two panels of solid oak, joined by magnets, with a concealed, dimmable LED, the same considered construction, in its most elemental material. Washi paper from Japan, oak from Denmark. Enso Raw uses the same construction as Enso, a self-supporting, coated washi cylinder held by two panels of solid oak, joined by magnets, with no frame inside, but in a thinner paper made with a high proportion of natural bast fibre, left closer to its raw, natural state and more beige in tone than the standard Enso. You can see the grain of the fibre in the glow, and because of that high fibre content, no two shades are quite the same - some carrying faint traces of bark or resin, the pattern varying slightly from piece to piece.
Being thinner, the paper is more delicate to handle, and it settles further under gravity than the standard Enso - its circle easing more readily into an oval, the ensō idea in its most pronounced form. For this reason, Enso Raw is made only at 120 cm; at greater lengths, the thinner paper would settle beyond the grace the design intends.
The dimmable LED is concealed within the natural oak, and both the light element and the shade unit can be replaced, so the piece can be maintained and renewed over time. It arrives in slim, tube-shaped packaging.
Designed to work singly or in a row, Enso Raw brings the same calm, linear presence to a kitchen island or dining table - its raw, individual character suited to interiors that favour visible material and natural variation.

When installed, gravity naturally shapes the form of the pendant, resulting in a unique oval form. Colors shown on screen may vary slightly from the actual product. The washi paper for the Enso Raw Pendant is unique and therefore every lamp will have its own unique character.

The Enso Raw ships in a compact, solid tube-shaped package designed for secure transport and efficient storage. This packaging approach minimizes waste while ensuring the product arrives safely and intact.
Dust can be removed from both the inside and outside of the shade using a soft dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. Please handle the edge gently. The more natural character also leaves the edge more delicate.
For more thorough cleaning over time, the shade can be carefully opened and placed on a clean surface. Gently wipe using a soft cloth lightly wrung in lukewarm water.
The shape of gravity
The pendant is shaped by the subtle force of imperfection and the lamp itself becomes a collaboration with gravity. First installed, Enso takes on a slightly oval shape, and it slowly settles into its final oval shape.
Never quite perfect, and never quite the same.
Danish meets Japanese design in one pendant
Enso - Japanese for ‘circle’ - draws from a classic calligraphic motif, an artist’s quest to form a perfect circle while acknowledging how gravity shapes it over time.
Enso represents the meeting of Danish in Japanese design, resulting in a soft, diffused light.
