Jundo Daybed
Designed by Mads Emil Garde
Jundo, the Japanese word for purity, explores what a single shape can become. Sixteen bent ribs of beech veneer, joined with brass, form a daybed where one shape serves as both the base and the legs. Finished in warm white-oiled beech, its natural grain and flowing curves remain fully visible. Handcrafted in Denmark.

Jundo is an exploration of purity, the examination of what a single shape can become.
Sixteen ribs of compressed beech veneer, each following the same curve, are assembled with brass fittings into a form where one element does everything: the traditional bed-rib, reimagined to serve as both bed-base and legs. Running flat across the top to carry you, each rib then sweeps down and under at the ends to become a leg- base and legs in one continuous line.
Spare and considered, yet with a strong, almost architectural presence. Complex in design, Jundo nonetheless interacts calmly with the space it occupies.
The daybed invites a personal arrangement: cushions can be placed across the ribs, along them, or set against a wall for a more relaxed setting - with one to three cushions depending on preference.
Also available in black-stained base,
Cushions are upholstered in a choice of Kvadrat textiles or Sørensen Leather, each selected to complement the character of the base.

White-oiled beech veneer - The oiled finish leaves the wood looking natural with a soft surface, developing a patina over time. Remove dust with a soft dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush. For cleaning, use a soft cloth lightly wrung in lukewarm water, stroking in the direction of the grain, and dry off immediately. For more thorough cleaning, use a soap formulated for white-oiled wood furniture. Re-oil when the surface starts to look faded or loses its softness, using a white oil suitable for indoor wood furniture.
Black painted beech veneer - Remove dust with a soft dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush. For cleaning, use a soft cloth lightly wrung in lukewarm water with a mild universal cleaning agent, and dry off immediately.
Kvadrat textiles - Vacuum frequently at low power, using a soft brush attachment. For further care details, visit kvadrat.dk/care-and-maintenance.
Sørensen Leather - Vacuum once or twice a month with a soft brush. For thorough cleaning, use foam from soap flakes stirred in warm water, applied with a dry soft cloth, minimising contact with water. Avoid bar soap, saddle soap, leather cleaners, household detergents and chemical products. Protect from direct sunlight, excessive heat and sharp objects.
